The police in Delta State on Thursday said they were holding an engineer, Mr. Sijbenu Godwin, for unlawfully intimidating his neighbourhood at Ekrevwer Quarters, Ugevwughe in Ughelli with a pump action gun.The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Celestina Kalu, said the police in the area got a report that Godwin was in the habit of always shooting his gun sporadically, thus creating fear and confusion in the neighbourhood.
The PPRO said items recovered from him included one Italian made pump action gun and 44 live cartridges.
Kalu disclosed that the command was able to rescue a woman and her three infants kidnapped on Saturday by unknown persons at Ugborikoko.
She said, “The DPO at Ugborikoko received a report on August 16 at about 6pm that one Mrs. Tokunbo Oruma and her three children – Bryan Oruma, six, Gabriel Oruma, three and Wendy Oruma, 10 months were kidnapped and driven away in her Honda CRV Jeep to unknown destination by hoodlums. The case was transferred to Special Anti-Kidnapping Squad (SAKS) Asaba for investigation.
“On Sunday at about 4pm SAKS Operatives commenced trailing the kidnappers through the phone number they were using to negotiate for ransom with the victim’s husband.
“However, on Monday at about 2 am, the hoodlums, sensing that the police operatives were closing in on them released the victims unhurt and without ransom. Victims have been re-united with their family.”
