Citing the crisis in the Nigerian Football Federation, NFF, as reason, Nigerian referees have announced a boycott of all league matches until “sanity is restored”.
This was stated in a circular dated August 28 and signed by the secretary general of the Nigeria Referees Association, NRA, Moroof Oluwa.
“A working committee has directed that all referees withdraw from matches in the Nigeria Premier league, the Nigeria National League, Nigeria Federation Cup and the women’s league until sanity is restored in Nigerian football,” the circular said.
The Premier and the National Leagues are in the 25th week of the 2013/14 season.This was stated in a circular dated August 28 and signed by the secretary general of the Nigeria Referees Association, NRA, Moroof Oluwa.

The NFF has been engulfed in a crisis in the last few months, leading to the impeachment, resignation and reinstatement of its last president, Aminu Maigari.
The Federation has now split into factions with, one faction describing the election of new president, Chris Giwa, illegal.
The Guild of Sports Editors, on Wednesday, called on the Nigerian President, Goodluck Jonathan, to intervene in the crisis.
