I can’t wear flat shoes again –Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria

On a recent interview, see what the most beautiful girl has to say..
My name is Iheoma Nnadi. I am 19 years old and an indigene of Imo State. I am an undergraduate in a university in South Africa. I am Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria 2014.I was just an average girl who loves to model. I grew up in Lagos where I had a very traditional upbringing. I have three sisters and one brother and my father moved the family to South Africa in 2008.
Participating in MBGN
This is my very first pageant. When I was looking for a modelling agency to take me in South Africa, I was told I looked more like a beauty queen. That helped me realise why I should give pageantry a try but I did not know how, when and where it was going to happen.
I have always wanted to be a beauty queen and I did not need anybody to encourage me to enrol for MBGN.
Modelling

I have been modelling for four years. I started modelling at the age of 16 which is the legal age to become a model in South Africa. It’s pretty exciting being a model even though I am not yet a top model.
Life in camp
The girls were so beautiful and each person had a unique quality that the other person did not have. You make friends but you still view them as competition. I think MBGN Universe, Queen Celestine, was who I viewed as my biggest threat. She was very friendly and by our second day in camp, she already knew everybody’s name.
Victory
I am still surprised I won. Not because I think I did not deserve to win but because any other person could have won as well bearing in mind that every contestant was beautiful and intelligent.
Parental support
My mum was in South Africa when I won. When I called her to share the good news, I don’t know if she cried more or I did. Everybody in my family shed tears of joy. It was amazing.
Relocating to Nigeria
I will be travelling back and forth quite often. If that does not work out well or turns out to be stressful, I will move back to Nigeria for the period of my reign.
Life as MBGN
I am no longer the same girl. The fact that people now know my first and last names is intriguing. People recognise me when I go out and they want to take pictures with me. I get calls from people I don’t even know or have not heard from in years. You enjoy it but sometimes it’s more than you can handle. Even at that, you have to be polite to everyone.
Pet project
I am passionate about eradicating child trafficking. It is a most uncomfortable situation that has eaten deep into our fabric as a nation.
Miss World
I will be representing Nigeria at the Miss World competition in London later this year. I will be competing alongside over 100 girls from all over the world. I am optimistic and looking forward to the experience. I hope I replicate Agbani Darego’s success.
Style
My style is simple. I like to wear tank tops, shorts, maxi dresses and jeans. I like things that make me comfortable and I can breathe in. Since becoming MBGN, I have had to wear heels all the time unlike before when I had the liberty to wear flats and sneakers. I also have to wear make-up wherever I go and constantly ensure it’s in place.
Role models
Tyra Banks is my number one. She is a black, beautiful, strong and successful model. Against all odds, she has triumphed. She is also the entrepreneur I hope to become someday.
Relaxation
I like to sleep and probably watch a movie. I have not had much time to hang out with my friends because MBGN takes a lot of my time.
Fitness
I have always been this slim. My mother is also very slim and I must have inherited her genes. I am very athletic and I don’t have a special diet I rely on to be slim.
