The Anambra State government at the weekend demolished a building in Umunbo in Ayamelum local government area of the state allegedly being used by the owner identified as Celestine Ughamadu, for hiding kidnap victims.According to the senior special adviser (SSA) on media to Governor Willie Obiano, Mr. James Eze, the recent demolition exercise brings to 16, the number of such buildings demolished by the government in various parts of the state.LEADERSHIP gathered that residents of Umunbo danced round the community after the demolition of the building in appreciation of the governor’s efforts to secure lives and property in the state.
A youth leader in the area Mr. Anthony Osita, thanked Governor Obiano, for sustaining the fight to rid the state of all forms of crime and anti-social activities.
He urged the youths not to get involved in criminal activities, but rather to engage themselves in productive ventures to enable them lead useful lives, adding that the act of kidnapping has dented the image of the community.
